Governor Wes Moore has signed another bill expanding paystub details that Maryland employers must provide to employees.
Currently, when a new employee is offered a position, employers must provide the rate of pay being offered, payday information, and leave benefits. For each payday, employers must also provide a statement outlining gross earnings and any wage deductions.
Beginning October 1, 2024, this information must also be on the physical paystub or online pay statement as well as the following information:
The Maryland Department of Labor intends to create a paystub template making it easier for employers who handle payroll internally. If your company outsources payroll, make sure they have this information and are compliant before October 1st.
Penalties for non-compliance are up to $500 for each employee who failed to receive the required information.
